Our Story

Otapay was founded by Ikechukwu Mbadiwe, also known as Iking Ferry, a passionate advocate for social transformation. Growing up in Otam Nwogba, Ndieze-Inyimegu in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, Ikechukwu experienced firsthand the challenges of living in an underserved community—no electricity, no good roads, poor educational systems, and lack of healthcare facilities.

Motivated by a vision to change the narrative, Ikechukwu built Otapay while pursuing his degree in Financial Accounting at the University of Lagos. The name “Otapay” is derived from “Otam,” his hometown, symbolizing his commitment to driving real impact where it matters the most.

Powered by Pulseford Limited, a leading technology ecosystem founded by Ikechukwu, Otapay is more than just a payment platform—it’s a force for progress. With 15% of our net profits reinvested into community development projects, we’re funding initiatives that bring hope, growth, and opportunities to places like Otam and beyond.
